TRICIA SANDRIDGE
Appalachian State University, B.A., Spanish Language, Literature, and Cultures (minor in Communication), M.A., Romance Languages (concentration in Spanish Higher Education)
While at Appalachian State University, Tricia focused on second language acquisition and international education. She participated in a faculty-led trip to Madrid, Spain, then studied abroad for one semester in Seville, Spain, at Universidad Pablo de Olavide. During summers, she worked as a lead coach at a sports camp. Tricia was then accepted into the accelerated admissions program to earn her master’s degree in Spanish higher education. As a graduate assistant, she helped with the development and implementation of the Cultures and Languages Across the Curriculum program. This past year, she taught English at a government sponsored school in Medellín, Colombia. After teaching, she traveled for two months around Colombia exploring places such as the Amazon and coffee region. Tricia now works as an online language tutor, helping to teach English to people abroad. Tricia is fluent in Spanish. This fall, Tricia plans to work at a school in Spain teaching English.
BROCK SCHARDIN

During his undergraduate studies, Brock lived and studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, at La Universidad Internacional de Menendez-Pelayo, where he developed a passion for Spanish culture and language. On campus, Brock was the Spanish Club president for three years and was deeply involved with service learning projects, including time spent as a volunteer teaching weekly Spanish lessons to local elementary students. He also led student volunteer trips to Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala; Memphis, Tennessee; Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; and the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in central South Dakota. Brock spent 2011 with AmeriCorps, teaching underserved youth in Houston, Texas. After two years of teaching English through the Fulbright Program in Madrid, Spain, Brock moved to Germany where he recently completed an M.A. in Linguistics at the University of Tübingen. He enjoys playing music, snowboarding, and cycling. Brock has spent four summers leading Putney’s Language Learning Spain program and is fluent in Spanish and proficient in German.
JULIANNA WHITE

In college, Julianna focused on Spanish literature and art, after falling in love with Spanish culture while living in Segovia, Zaragoza, and Madrid, Spain. She also lived in Oxford, England, and explored rural areas of Greece, Italy, and Turkey while studying Classics. After graduating with Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude honors from Sewanee, Julianna immediately began her M.A. program at the University of Virginia. There, Julianna discovered her passion for teaching and has continued to teach at UVA as a lecturer since. She also enjoyed her summers working with middle and high school students at an academic camp in Charlottesville. Julianna is fluent in Spanish, and also studied Italian and French in college, and she loves to practice those languages in her spare time.
